Now in its third year, the latest Global State of IT Automation Report reveals what automation-focused IT professionals across the globe have to say about the state of IT automation in 2024.
Automation is evolving into orchestration: 82% of respondents plan to update or expand their IT automation tools to better orchestrate complex, hybrid environments.
Developed in partnership with Censuswide, this research identifies the latest trends, best practices, and benchmarks for automation and orchestration across cloud, data/ML pipelines, IT operations, self-service enablement, and more. Key survey findings include:
- Democratization of automation continues to grow: 88% provide self-service IT automation to end-users, with many prioritizing self-service features in new automation tool investments.
- Companies prefer a mix of on-prem and cloud environments: hybrid IT usage has doubled from 34% to 68% in only one year. This approach is efficient and flexible, but can complicate automation efforts with legacy toolsets.
- Machine learning pipelines are evolving and growing in importance: 74% have integrated ML pipelines for genAI initiatives, highlighting AI's critical role in future strategies.
